What Alex writes about
Alex writes every guide on this site and the copy on the service pages. The subjects are practical: what a plumber's website should include, how to show Gas Safe registration properly, what UK law now says about reviews, how to set up a Google Business Profile as a service-area business, how cookies and enquiry forms should be handled, and how much a website really costs to build and run.
The aim of each guide is to give a plumbing business owner a straight answer near the top, followed by enough detail to act on it, without padding.
How Alex researches
Each guide starts from the question a plumbing firm would actually ask. Where the answer depends on a law, a regulator's guidance or published data, Alex goes to the primary source first: regulators such as HSE, the ICO and the Advertising Standards Authority, official guidance such as Trading Standards' Business Companion, and the published policies of platforms such as Google. Where a primary source is not available, Alex uses reputable secondary sources, such as law firm summaries or news reports of official data, and labels them as secondary in the source list.
Every source is listed at the end of the page with the date it was checked. Figures from commercial publishers, such as website price surveys, are presented as what that publisher reports rather than as settled fact.
What Alex does not do
Alex does not give legal advice, and the guides say so where they touch on law. The guides do not invent statistics, case studies or customer stories, and they do not present opinions as rules. Where something is uncertain, such as how a particular analytics tool fits the new cookie exceptions, the guide says it is uncertain and points to where to check.
