All guides and service pages are written and edited by Alex Morgan. Every page shows who wrote it and when it was last updated.
How we choose topics
We write about the questions plumbing firms actually face with their websites: what to include, what it costs, how to show credentials and reviews honestly, how to be found locally and how to handle customer data. We prioritise topics where getting it wrong could cost a business money, customers or legal trouble.
Sources we rely on
We use primary sources wherever possible:
- regulators and public bodies, such as the Health and Safety Executive, the Information Commissioner's Office and the Advertising Standards Authority;
- official guidance, such as Trading Standards' Business Companion;
- the published policies and documentation of platforms such as Google;
- schemes and professional bodies, for their own rules and membership requirements.
Where no primary source is available, or where a secondary source explains a primary one clearly, we use reputable secondary sources such as law firm briefings or news reports of official data. We label these as secondary in the source list. Figures from commercial publishers, such as website price guides, are presented as what that publisher reports, with the date.
How we check facts
Every legal statement, regulatory position and figure in a guide links to its source. Each source is listed at the end of the page with the date it was checked. Before publishing, we read each claim against its source to make sure we have not overstated it. If a point is uncertain or disputed, we say so rather than picking the most convenient reading.
What we will never publish
- Invented statistics, studies or survey results.
- Fake testimonials, reviews, case studies or client names.
- Claims about our own business we cannot support, such as awards, years of experience or client numbers we do not have.
- Advice that could put someone at risk, such as instructions for gas work.
Our commercial interest
The owner of this site has commercial interests in web design services, including the services described on this site. We disclose that on every page. The guides are written to be useful whether or not you hire us. Where a cheaper option or a do-it-yourself route would serve a reader better, the guides say so.
Keeping content current
We review guides when the rules they describe change and at least once a year. When we make a substantive change, we update the date at the top of the page. Minor corrections such as typos do not change the date.
Corrections
If you think something we have published is wrong or out of date, email hello@plumborixa.site with the page address and the issue. We check every correction request against the relevant source. If we got something wrong, we fix it promptly and update the page date. We aim to reply to correction requests within five working days.
Not legal advice
Our guides are general information, not legal or professional advice. For decisions with legal consequences, please speak to a solicitor, your local Trading Standards service or another qualified adviser.
